Responsibilities

  • Assist with Daily Living: Help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Monitor Patient Status: Observe and accurately record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, and report any abnormalities to the RN immediately.
  • Assist with Mobility: Help patients transfer, walk, and move safely using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent falls and injuries.
  • Maintain Hygiene: Ensure patient rooms and common areas are kept clean, sanitized, and organized to promote a healthy environment and prevent infection.
  • Administer Medications: Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, prepare and administer medications as prescribed, documenting all doses accurately.
  • Communicate with Team: Act as a liaison between patients, their families, and the healthcare team, ensuring clear and compassionate communication.
  • Document Care: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, including intake/output and care logs.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. Current CNA certification (or eligibility to obtain certification) is preferred.
  • License: Must possess a valid CNA license issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Experience: No prior professional experience required; we are looking for candidates with a strong aptitude for learning and a passion for patient care.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently throughout the shift. Must have the physical stamina to perform hands-on patient care tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrated compassion, patience, and a strong ethical work ethic. Must pass a background check and drug screening.
