Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including bathing, dressing, and assisting with mobility and transfers to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, reporting any abnormalities to the nursing staff immediately.
- Assist physicians and nurses with medical procedures, including wound care, Foley catheter insertion, and specimen collection.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care and address patient concerns.
- Respond promptly to patient calls and emergency situations, adhering to established safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Assist with the admission and discharge processes, ensuring all necessary paperwork and patient belongings are managed efficiently.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Ohio CNA License (or Compact State License eligible for Ohio).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care setting is preferred but not always required for exceptional candidates.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on empathy and patient advocacy.
- Ability to lift, move, and support patients weighing up to 250 lbs using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by departmental needs.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
