Responsibilities

  • Patient Care Support: Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while upholding patient dignity.
  • Vital Signs Monitoring: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and report significant changes to the nursing staff.
  • Assistance with Mobility: Safely transfer and move patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent injury.
  • Hygiene & Comfort: Monitor and maintain patient hygiene standards and ensure the patient's room environment is clean, safe, and comfortable.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate patient needs and concerns to the nursing team and engage with patients and their families to provide emotional support.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and observations in the electronic health record (EHR).

Qualifications

  • Certification: Current State of Michigan Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and registration required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred but not always required.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods; ability to lift and transfer patients weighing up to 250 lbs.
