Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and comfort.
- Vital Signs: Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates accurately.
- Assistance: Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient conditions and needs.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and reports any changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse immediately.
- Housekeeping: Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for all residents.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current, unencumbered Virginia CNA license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience: Previous experience in long-term care or acute care settings is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine passion for patient advocacy.
- Physical Ability: Ability to stand, walk, and lift patients as needed; physical stamina to perform duties throughout the shift.
- Compassion: Empathy, patience, and a caring demeanor towards the elderly and disabled population.
- Documentation: Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
