Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and compound sterile/non-sterile medications following USP 797/795 guidelines
- Verify prescription orders, calculate dosages, and prepare patient labels with meticulous attention to detail
- Operate automated dispensing systems and maintain inventory control with regular cycle counts
- Provide exceptional patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and adherence protocols
- Coordinate with insurance providers for prior authorizations and billing documentation
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant electronic health records and pharmacy management systems
- Train new technicians on pharmacy protocols and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Active California Pharmacy Technician license (PTCB or ExCPT certified)
- Minimum 2 years experience in retail or hospital pharmacy setting
- Proficiency in pharmacy software (e.g., QS/1, Omnicell) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of sterile compounding procedures and USP standards
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex medication information
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation
