Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile surgical fields and equipment for orthopedic, general, and specialty procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile environments
- Manage surgical inventory and ensure equipment sterilization compliance with OSHA standards
- Document procedural details in electronic health records with 100% accuracy
- Maintain sterile technique throughout all phases of surgical procedures
- Collaborate with circulating nurses to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in department quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent operating room experience
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Expertise in sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Knowledge of orthopedic/general surgical procedures
- Ability to maintain composure in fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Flexibility to cover varied surgical schedules including weekends
