Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies as needed
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control standards throughout surgical cases
- Account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before, during, and after procedures
- Prepare and transport patients to/from operating rooms while maintaining comfort and safety
- Collaborate with surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient outcomes
- Document all perioperative activities accurately and maintain sterile processing records
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and handle emergency situations
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Excellent communication skills and ability to function effectively in team settings
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
