Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations with instrument passing and sterile technique maintenance
- Manage surgical equipment and troubleshoot technical issues intraoperatively
- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of biohazardous materials
- Document procedural details and maintain accurate patient records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
- Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and equipment
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in tertiary care setting
- BLS certification with current CPR credentials
- Expert knowledge of sterile processing and infection control protocols
- Ability to adapt quickly to diverse surgical specialties (ortho, neuro, general)
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records systems (EPIC preferred)
