Responsibilities

  • Patient Monitoring: Observe and report patient vital signs, changes in condition, and any unusual symptoms to the nursing staff immediately.
  • Personal Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect.
  • Mobility Support: Safely transfer and reposition patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent injury.
  • Hygiene Management: Ensure patients remain clean and comfortable by changing linens, feeding patients as needed, and maintaining a tidy environment.
  • Medication Assistance: Support patients in taking prescribed medications as directed by the RN or LPN, never administering medication independently.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain patient charts, shift reports, and incident logs in compliance with facility policies.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure holistic care.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Current and valid Texas State CNA Certification (CNA 1).
  • Licensure: Active unencumbered CNA license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
  • Skills: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently throughout the shift.
