Responsibilities
- Patient Monitoring: Observe and report patient vital signs, changes in condition, and any unusual symptoms to the nursing staff immediately.
- Personal Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect.
- Mobility Support: Safely transfer and reposition patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent injury.
- Hygiene Management: Ensure patients remain clean and comfortable by changing linens, feeding patients as needed, and maintaining a tidy environment.
- Medication Assistance: Support patients in taking prescribed medications as directed by the RN or LPN, never administering medication independently.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain patient charts, shift reports, and incident logs in compliance with facility policies.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure holistic care.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current and valid Texas State CNA Certification (CNA 1).
- Licensure: Active unencumbered CNA license.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
- Skills: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently throughout the shift.
- Compassion: A genuine passion for patient care and a compassionate demeanor.
