Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms with instruments, materials, and equipment and ensure they are clean, well-maintained, and fully stocked.
  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, passing instruments and materials efficiently to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist using proper safety protocols.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions to ensure patient comfort.
  • Manage patient records accurately and maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient health information.
  • Perform chair-side assisting duties, including taking impressions and pouring models.
  • Greet patients warmly and manage the front desk reception duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program or equivalent experience.
  • Certification from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) preferred.
  • Licensed to practice as a Dental Assistant in the State of Louisiana.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification for healthcare providers.
  • 1-3 years of clinical experience in a dental office setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
