Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, label, and dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation of pharmaceuticals
- Process insurance claims and manage patient billing inquiries with precision
- Maintain electronic health records and pharmacy databases with meticulous attention to detail
- Provide exceptional customer service, counseling patients on medication usage and side effects
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations and safety protocols
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Assist in training new pharmacy technicians and supporting pharmacy operations
Qualifications
- Active New York State Pharmacy Technician license (required)
- Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy setting (1+ years preferred)
- Certification through PTCB or ExCPT (strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell)
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling
- Strong communication skills with ability to clearly explain complex information
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and drug interactions
