Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense and verify medications according to prescription orders and protocols
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and conducting cycle counts
- Provide exceptional patient counseling on medication usage and potential side effects
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, DEA, and California Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Utilize pharmacy software (e.g., Omnicell, QS/1) for prescription processing and documentation
- Collaborate with pharmacists to resolve medication discrepancies and optimize workflow
- Prepare sterile compounds and IV admixtures under pharmacist supervision
Qualifications
- Active California Pharmacy Technician license required
- Prior hospital or retail pharmacy experience preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation strongly preferred
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and electronic health records
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and drug classifications
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
