Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and microcollection procedures on diverse patient populations
- Process and label specimens according to CLIA and HIPAA compliance standards
- Maintain accurate patient records and electronic documentation in EHR systems
- Ensure proper specimen storage, transport, and chain of custody protocols
- Provide patient education and support during blood collection procedures
- Collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams for seamless workflow
- Maintain clean, organized, and infection-controlled workstations
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques for pediatric to geriatric patients
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and laboratory safety protocols
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with anxious patients
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in specimen handling
