Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws across diverse patient populations
- Process and label specimens with meticulous attention to detail
- Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to OSHA/HIPAA protocols
- Operate automated blood collection equipment and point-of-care testing devices
- Provide patient education and emotional support during procedures
- Collaborate with laboratory staff on specimen handling and quality control
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Current Texas Phlebotomy Technician certification (PTA) required
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in venipuncture
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Proficiency in specimen processing and handling protocols
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced medical environments
- High school diploma or GED with science coursework preferred
- Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
