Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collection following strict safety protocols
- Process and label blood specimens with 100% accuracy for laboratory analysis
- Maintain sterile collection areas and medical equipment per OSHA standards
- Provide patient education on procedures and ensure comfort throughout collection
- Collaborate with lab staff to resolve specimen discrepancies efficiently
- Document all procedures accurately in EMR systems
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and process improvement
Qualifications
- Current NC Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques across diverse patient populations
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Experience with LIS/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment
