Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections following strict aseptic protocols
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory facilities with proper chain-of-custody documentation
- Verify patient identities and maintain accurate electronic health records
- Prepare blood collection equipment and maintain sterile workstations
- Provide patient education on collection procedures and address concerns
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure efficient workflow
- Adhere to OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA compliance standards
Qualifications
- Current Hawaii Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in venipuncture
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Proficiency in LIS data entry and specimen tracking systems
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for diverse patient interactions
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced healthcare environments
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance protocols
- Valid Hawaii driver's license for specimen transport
