Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Maintain strict sterile environments throughout surgical procedures to prevent infections
- Count and track all surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps before and after operations
- Transport patients to and from operating rooms while monitoring vital signs
- Assist in sterilizing and processing surgical instruments following established protocols
- Document all perioperative activities accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Completion of accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of recent operating room experience preferred
- Proficiency in sterile processing and instrument preparation techniques
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment maintenance
- Excellent communication skills and ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team
