Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and ensuring all instruments are ready for procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile environments throughout surgical procedures and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count and track surgical instruments, needles, and sponges before, during, and after surgeries
- Transport patients to and from operating rooms while monitoring vital signs
- Prepare and sterilize medical equipment using autoclaves and sterilization methods
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in hospital or ambulatory surgical setting
- Knowledge of sterile processing protocols and OSHA regulations
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with surgical teams
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Associates degree in Surgical Technology or related field preferred
