Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections following strict safety protocols
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory facilities while maintaining chain of custody
- Verify patient identity and prepare lab requisitions with meticulous attention to detail
- Maintain sterile equipment and calibration of phlebotomy tools
- Document patient interactions and specimen data in electronic health records
- Provide patient education on pre-test procedures and sample collection
- Collaborate with nursing staff and laboratory technologists for seamless workflow
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency in HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality protocols
- Experience with electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner preferred)
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume outpatient settings
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient comfort during procedures
- Valid North Carolina Phlebotomy Technician license
