Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, including infants, children, and adults.
- Prepare patients for blood draws by explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort and cooperation.
- Label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory in compliance with strict chain-of-custody and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Adhere to all HIPAA privacy regulations and clinic safety protocols to minimize infection risk.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to ensure efficient patient flow and care.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Specialist certification (CPT-I or CPT-II) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred but not required for high-potential candidates.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
