Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture, capillary punctures, and specialized blood draws across diverse patient demographics
- Process specimens using CLIA-certified protocols while maintaining strict chain-of-custody documentation
- Administer point-of-care testing with precision and adherence to HIPAA/GMP standards
- Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including analyzers and centrifuges
- Implement infection control protocols and universal precautions in all procedures
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to optimize patient flow and specimen integrity
- Maintain detailed electronic health records with zero-tolerance for documentation errors
- Train new staff on phlebotomy techniques and specimen processing workflows
Qualifications
- Current Missouri Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or AMT)
- Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience in hospital or outpatient settings
- BLS/CPR certification with current credentials
- Demonstrated proficiency in pediatric, geriatric, and difficult-access draws
- Strong knowledge of OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards
- Exceptional communication skills for high-stakes patient interactions
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
- Valid Missouri driver's license with clean driving record for mobile phlebotomy
