Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments according to procedure-specific protocols
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile environment
- Count and account for all surgical supplies, sharps, and instruments before/after procedures
- Operate and maintain advanced surgical equipment including robotic systems
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, JCAHO, and AORN standards
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams for efficient surgical workflow
- Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures and inventory
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general surgery
- BLS certification with current ACLS preferred
- Proficiency in sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ lbs
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Flexibility to cover varied shifts including weekends/on-call
