Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterilize equipment, and arrange surgical instruments for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and suturing tissues
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures
- Inventory and manage surgical supplies, ensuring optimal inventory levels and cost efficiency
- Train and mentor junior surgical technologists on advanced techniques and protocols
- Document procedures accurately and maintain comprehensive patient records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless surgical workflows
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Level 1 trauma or specialty surgical environments
- Expertise in orthopedic, neurosurgical, or cardiovascular procedures
- Proven ability to anticipate surgeon needs during complex operations
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and OSHA regulations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to perform under pressure
- BLS certification required; additional advanced certifications preferred
- Associates degree in Surgical Technology or related field
