Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Greet patients, verify insurance, and prepare them for examinations under the supervision of physicians and nurses.
- Vital Signs & Measurements: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, weight, and height.
- Assisting Procedures: Provide clinical support during exams, assist with minor procedures, and prepare examination rooms for patient visits.
- Lab Work: Collect and process blood samples (phlebotomy), urine, and other diagnostic specimens following strict laboratory protocols.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient charts, schedule appointments, and handle phone inquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
- Infection Control: Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all health and safety regulations, including OSHA and HIPAA compliance.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
- Certification: Current certification as a CMA, RMA, or MA (American Medical Technologists or equivalent) is preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a clinical setting is a plus; new graduates with strong externship experience are welcome.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact empathetically with patients of all backgrounds.
- Licensure: Valid California Medical Assistant license (if required by state specific regulations).
