Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, vitals, and medical history taking.
- Procedures: Perform basic clinical procedures including phlebotomy (blood draws), EKGs, and wound care under supervision.
- Administrative Support: Greet patients, manage check-in/check-out processes, and verify insurance information accurately.
- Documentation: Maintain and update patient medical records using EMR systems (Epic, Cerner) ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Lab Support: Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and perform basic point-of-care testing.
- Coordination: Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate patient referrals to specialists.
- Compassionate Care: Educate patients on preventative care and medication instructions in a clear, empathetic manner.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Certification: CMA or RMA certification is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification required.
- Skills: Strong computer literacy and proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient privacy and empathy.
- Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment safely.
