Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Greet patients, verify demographics and insurance information, and prepare them for examinations.
- Assistance: Assist providers during patient visits, including preparing instruments, taking vitals, and performing EKGs.
- Lab & Procedures: Collect and process laboratory specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and assist with basic procedures.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Medication Safety: Prepare medications for administration under physician supervision and ensure proper documentation.
- Infection Control: Adhere to strict sterilization and infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program; CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and computer systems; strong typing and data entry skills.
- Interpersonal: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Organization: Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Compliance: Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.
