Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with patient examinations, procedures, and diagnostic tests including EKGs, injections, and wound care
- Accurately document patient information in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring all equipment and supplies are sterile and readily available
- Perform vital sign measurements, phlebotomy, and basic laboratory tests following established protocols
- Coordinate patient flow, manage appointment schedules, and handle administrative tasks including insurance verification
- Provide patient education on medications, treatment plans, and preventive care measures
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care coordination
Qualifications
- Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) from accredited institution
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or urgent care setting
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic or Cerner preferred)
- BLS/CPR certification with current AHA credentials
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations
- Ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Valid Washington DC medical assistant license
