Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and accurately update patient demographics and medical histories in the EMR system.
- Clinical Support: Assist providers with examinations, perform vital sign checks (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature), and prepare examination rooms for patient visits.
- Procedural Assistance: Draw blood, administer injections, and perform Point-of-Care (POCT) testing as directed by the provider.
- Administrative Duties: Schedule appointments, process patient referrals, and manage prescription refill requests efficiently.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock examination room supplies, including exam gloves, gauze, and diagnostic equipment.
- Compassionate Care: Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and post-care instructions to ensure adherence and health literacy.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
- Experience: 1-2 years of clinical experience in a primary care or specialty practice setting is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to empathize with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform fine motor skills required for procedures.
