Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties to ensure our patients receive high-quality care. You will play a crucial role in the patient intake process, assisting providers during examinations, and maintaining accurate medical records.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Obtain vital signs, record patient medical history, and prepare patients for examinations.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with procedures, injections, and minor surgeries as directed.
- Lab Duties: Collect and process laboratory specimens, perform basic point-of-care testing (POCT), and maintain lab inventory.
- Administrative: Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and manage patient check-in/check-out processes.
- Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and clinic protocols regarding patient privacy and safety.
- Communication: Clearly communicate test results and treatment plans to patients in a friendly and professional manner.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is required.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact empathetically with patients of all backgrounds.
- Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends or evenings, as required by department needs.
