Responsibilities
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for examination by assisting with history taking and measuring vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight).
- Clinical Duties: Perform basic laboratory tests, administer medications as directed by physicians, and perform EKGs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records in the EMR system, including charting and coding.
- Assistance: Assist physicians during examinations and minor medical procedures.
- Communication: Handle patient inquiries, provide health education, and coordinate referrals to specialists.
- Administrative Support: Manage front desk reception duties, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience: 1-3 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient confidentiality.
- Organization: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical software.
- Professionalism: Strong ethical standards, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
