Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Support: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with patient examinations, taking vital signs, and documenting medical histories accurately.
- Procedures: Perform basic clinical duties such as venipuncture (phlebotomy), EKGs, and administering injections or medications as directed.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and processing patient check-ins and check-outs.
- Record Keeping: Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) with precision and confidentiality, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Room Preparation: Prepare examination rooms for patient visits by ensuring equipment is sterilized and supplies are stocked.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team, answering questions and providing clear instructions.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program and possession of a valid CMA, RMA, or MA certification.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKG administration, and electronic health record software (Epic, Cerner, or similar).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient empathy and clarity.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment.
