Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, medical history, and recording information in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as blood draws, urinalysis, and EKGs, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians and under supervision.
- Manage patient flow efficiently in the clinic, scheduling appointments, and coordinating referrals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile environment in examination rooms and treatment areas.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, diagnoses, and follow-up care instructions.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required; equivalent experience may be considered.
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and work well under pressure in a high-volume environment.
