Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by escorting them to the exam room and obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse).
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during patient visits by handing instruments and materials.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urine analysis and EKGs, under supervision.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by licensed healthcare providers.
- Update and maintain accurate patient medical records and charts in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Answer incoming phone calls and patient inquiries, directing them appropriately to staff members.
- Prepare examination rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilization equipment.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred; High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- 1-2 years of recent experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient comfort.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
