Job Overview:
In this critical role, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. You will work closely with physicians and nurses to deliver high-quality medical services.
Responsibilities
- Patient Intake & Triage: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and accurately record patient medical history and symptoms.
- Vital Signs & Measurements: Perform routine vital sign checks (blood pressure, temperature, weight) and prepare patients for examinations.
- Clinical Support: Assist providers during examinations, perform minor medical procedures (injections, wound care), and prepare examination rooms for each patient.
- Laboratory & Diagnostic: Collect and process laboratory specimens, perform EKGs, and coordinate diagnostic imaging as directed.
- Medication Management: Prepare and administer medications under provider supervision and educate patients on proper usage.
- Administrative Duties: Manage electronic health records (EHR), schedule appointments, and handle insurance authorizations.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and hospital safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Certification: Current certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), or NCMA is required.
- Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association must be current.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients (up to 50 lbs), and perform fine motor skills.
