Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination by assisting with medical history taking and vital sign checks (blood pressure, pulse, temperature).
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, administer medications (under physician supervision), and perform EKGs.
- Manage patient records accurately, including updating electronic health records (EHR) and maintaining filing systems.
- Greet patients warmly, answer phone inquiries, and schedule appointments to ensure efficient front-desk operations.
- Prepare examination rooms with necessary instruments, sterilize equipment, and maintain a clean clinical environment.
- Handle insurance verification and billing inquiries with a high level of accuracy.
Qualifications
- Certification or diploma as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA) from an accredited institution.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- At least 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting patients or equipment.
