Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and document medical histories
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures and administer medications per protocols
- Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing with precision
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Coordinate patient flow, manage appointment schedules, and handle insurance verifications
- Inventory medical supplies, sterilize equipment, and maintain exam room readiness
- Provide patient education on treatment plans and preventive care measures
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in cardiology or specialty practice preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification and Louisiana medical assistant license
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic experience highly valued)
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to build patient rapport
- Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask in high-pressure situations
- Valid Louisiana driver's license and reliable transportation
- Spanish fluency a significant plus for diverse patient population
