Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean claims to commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits pre-service to prevent claim denials
- Resolve claim denials and underpayments through effective appeals and follow-up
- Manage patient accounts receivable with aging reports and collection strategies
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing compliance standards
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding
- Utilize EHR systems (Epic/Cerner) for efficient billing operations
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in physician practice or hospital setting
- Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Proficiency in billing software (e.g., Medisoft, AdvancedMD) and MS Office
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills for patient and payer interactions
