Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit electronic claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage denial resolution and follow-up on unpaid claims within 30-day cycles
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
- Analyze aging reports and patient statements to identify billing discrepancies
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation and coding accuracy
- Stay current with healthcare billing regulations and CMS policy updates
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or NextGen)
- Expert knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement methodologies
