Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) using Availity and Change Healthcare.
- Follow up on outstanding claims, appeals denied claims, and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
- Post payments and process patient statements and payments.
- Maintain accurate records in the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations, coding updates, and compliance standards (HIPAA).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Proficient in ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of billing software (Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth).
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and insurance representatives.
