Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits accurately.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers electronically and manually.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on denied or delayed claims.
- Manage patient invoicing and collections to ensure timely payments.
- Maintain up-to-date and organized billing records in compliance with HIPAA.
- Collaborate with the finance team to improve revenue cycle performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in medical billing or healthcare finance.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HMOs.
- Proficient in using EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to detect coding errors.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with patients and insurance representatives.
