Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records and charge sheets for accuracy prior to claim submission.
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) electronically.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, analyze denial reasons, and appeal denied claims successfully.
- Generate patient statements and manage accounts receivable (AR) aging.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal audit policies.
- Collaborate with the coding team to resolve any discrepancies in documentation.
- Maintain patient demographics and insurance information within the EHR system.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification as a CPC, CBCS, or CCA is a strong plus but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and insurance representatives.
