Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records to ensure accuracy before billing.
- Submit claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) using clearinghouse software.
- Track claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations and coding updates.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification as a CPC, COC, or CPB is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in medical billing and claims processing (1-3 years minimum).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (Epic, AthenaHealth) and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
