As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for the financial lifecycle of patient accounts, ensuring accuracy in claims submission and maximizing revenue for our healthcare partners. Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Accurately review and code medical records using ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines to ensure proper billing.
- Submission & Follow-up: Process and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Blue Cross, Aetna, Medicare, etc.) in a timely manner and follow up on denied or unpaid claims.
- Revenue Cycle: Monitor accounts receivable, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies to accelerate collections.
- Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered to prevent claim denials.
- Documentation: Maintain and update patient billing records, financial reports, and ledgers with high precision.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries, account balances, and payment plans.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Health Information Technology, or related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, Athenahealth, NextGen, or similar) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement models, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and HIPAA compliance regulations.
- Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to solve complex billing issues.
- Certification: CPC, CBCS, or RHIT certification is a significant plus.
