Your Mission:
You will be responsible for the accurate and timely submission of medical claims to insurance companies, managing patient accounts, and resolving billing discrepancies to maximize revenue.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to ensure proper billing.
- Submit claims to insurance payers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) via various electronic and manual methods.
- Monitor claims status in clearinghouses and resolve any denials or rejections promptly.
- Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and initiate collection processes when necessary.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
- Collaborate with billing supervisors and healthcare providers to resolve complex coding issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records in our EMR/EHR system.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Medical Billing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CMC (Certified Medical Coder), or RHIA/RHIT is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
