Responsibilities
- Verify and Code: Accurately review medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Claim Submission: Submit claims to insurance payers (CMS-1500, electronic) in a timely manner.
- Denial Management: Monitor claim status, identify denials, and follow up to ensure resolution and maximum reimbursement.
- Patient Billing: Generate and send patient statements, explain insurance coverage, and collect payments.
- Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
Qualifications
- Certification: CPC, CPC-A, or RHIT certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical office administration.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
