Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
- Submit and follow up on medical claims with commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Review and resolve denied or rejected claims using EHR systems.
- Reconcile accounts and prepare monthly financial reports.
- Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment plans.
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations, coding updates (ICD-10, CPT), and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPC-A certification is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficient in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
