Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to insurance companies using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments through systematic follow-up
- Maintain patient accounts and ensure timely payment posting while adhering to HIPAA guidelines
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance providers, and healthcare staff regarding billing inquiries
- Analyze aging reports and implement strategies to reduce accounts receivable days
- Utilize EHR systems and billing software to maintain accurate patient records
- Stay current with healthcare regulations and coding updates
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and billing software
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) preferred
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for complex claim resolution
- Excellent communication skills for patient and insurance provider interactions
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
