Responsibilities
- Accurately submit and follow up on medical insurance claims (ICD-10, CPT-4) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and gather necessary documentation before services are rendered.
- Manage and reconcile accounts receivable, identifying and resolving billing discrepancies.
- Communicate with patients and insurance carriers regarding unpaid claims, denials, and payment plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize EHR/EMR software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) to document billing activities and track status.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management.
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of insurance reimbursement processes and claim denial management.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
