Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance information and demographic data for accuracy before claim submission.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to various payers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) using electronic clearinghouses.
- Follow up on denied or rejected claims and manage appeals to maximize revenue.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient accounts, payments, and outstanding balances.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries and financial responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Health Information Management preferred.
- Experience with medical billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, Cerner) is highly desired.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.
