Responsibilities
- Verify and code patient demographics and insurance information accurately.
- Submit clean claims to insurance carriers (Blue Cross, United, etc.) and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Manage accounts receivable, including posting payments and sending patient statements.
- Communicate with patients regarding financial responsibilities and billing inquiries.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal privacy policies.
- Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) and billing software to track financial performance.
- Identify trends in denials and work with the billing team to improve revenue cycle management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with electronic billing systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to detect errors in data entry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex billing issues.
- Valid forklift certification is a plus.
